The Importance Of Young People Having Skills In Science

There is a lot to be said about the importance of young people having skills in science. Students in Europe have a lot to gain from studying science. A recent poll amongst school pupils have shown a sure interest in science. They thought that studying science may very well ensure better career prospects. It is a real possibility that must not be underestimated. Students involvement in science related issues will lead to major improvements within this field. Therefore the importance of studying science cannot be stressed enough in this modern world we live in. Our world’s future is in the hands of thousands of students, and Europe is certainly no exception. We need future scientists to come up with clean and green solutions for the transportation industry such as cambridge cabs that use hybrid engine technology. We need scientists to invent new medicines and methods of growing vegetables to tackle problems such as world hunger. We need scientists to come up with water conservation solutions such as water tanks. Europe especially needs scientists to come up with cheaper and more effective ways of manufacturing for industry in order to combat the economic problems facing Europe’s industries. Scientists are invaluable and Science Olympiads are an integral part of promoting Science and Science based careers amongst the high school students that will become future scientists.

Olympiads Strengthen Students’ Scientific Skills

What better way for any high school student to test their science skills, than qualifying for the European Union Science Olympiad. This exciting event is hosted in a European member state, during the month of April.  The qualifying students aged 16 need to be blessed with exceptional scientific skills.

The first EUSO took place in April 2003 with clear parameters being set to the expectations to be met from each student. They were to do a practical test, which included biology, physics and chemistry in equal measures. The importance of young people having skills in science, were crucial in acing this competition. It certainly contributed in whetting the appetite of many spectators in the field of science soon.

Understanding The Needs of Young European Students

Studies have shown that a good 80% of high school students knew the importance of studying science, and the future career possibilities that could be made possible in having the required scientific educational background. PIH The sad thing that the reports have shown, is students were a little in the dark, what career paths could be followed in having studied science.

It was interesting to note that European high school students, showed that they would enjoy a more hands on approach from tutors in the field of science. They said that science would be more fun and easier to understand, if there were practical interactions among students and the tutors of the subject. Practical interactions can be anything from examining the weight loss properties of Phen375 to burning magnesium in a bunsen burner.

There are certain gaps that still had to be breached regarding students understanding of the benefits that can be had from having skills in science. One major benefit, is being afforded the opportunity to be placed in more prestigious universities. Many young ones in European countries, were not properly informed as to the benefits to be gained from having skills in science.

Another very important observation among European science students revealed, that they would find assessments done on a continual basis, to be more encouraging, in learning everything there is to know about scientific topics. Argan Oil The other valid point from questions that were posed to students, revealed that science was to be aligned with life as it is today.

Lucrative Careers Possible with Skills in Science

The importance of young people having skills in science cannot be stressed enough, when in comes to finding jobs in this field. The career opportunities open to studies within the science world will vary, as there are different fields to branch into. There are many ways that scientists can help people from treatments for hair loss such as Provillus to treatments for cancer. We will briefly touch on some of the available careers.

Biological Scientist careers include jobs like botanist, marine biologist, and microbiologist. Other scientific related careers include Geo scientists, Hydrologists, Clinical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians. Whether it is a project to research the healing effects of tropical plants or a study to develop supplements to assist obese people such as African Mango, those who pursue science careers have the opportunity to make a real difference to many people across the globe. Scientists have invented mini machines or “nano bots” to perform medical functions in the body, they have invented non-stick coatings for cooking products and even an electronic cigarette starter kit that can be used for odorless cigarettes.  This is just a small taste of some of the exciting pathways that a career in science can take you down.

How Science Olympiads Can Help Young People

Science, to some, can be deemed as a boring subject – one that must be taken in order to complete the school’s curriculum.  Yet! science can be fun, especially if the young student is introduced to it in a novel and of course, a fun way.

One such novel way, is the Science Olympics -   The European Union Science Olympiad – EUSO -  which is held every year at a given European venue;  the first Olympiad was held in Dublin, Ireland in 2003.  The year 2001 was initially chosen to launch the Science Olympics; however, an outbreak of foot and mouth disease restricted travel between EU counties. The most recent EUSO was in The Czech Republic, in April, 2011.   The next Olympiad is scheduled for Vilnius, Lithuania, in 2012.

This is a team competition for EU second level science students who have reached 16 years, or younger by 31 December in the year before the next competition. Because of the nature of the Olympics, it is predicted that competition is going to be very tough indeed. Over the past eleven years, science talent among the young people has been brought to the fore.

The Science Olympics is a series of problem solving events designed to be fun to do and which require students to utilize their understanding of science creatively.  Team work is the essence and thus students work as a team and not individually.

What Is The Objective?
The Science Olympics promotes science problem resolution and students working together. The activities are planned to allow the student to achieve involvement, become successful and of course, have fun. With the use of information technology the science olympiad activities can be shared with others via the internet, social media and teleconferencing equipment such as cisco telepresence.  Naturally, the long-term aim is to get those students embarking on a science career and it is amazing how the Science Olympics can help young people and awaken any latent science talent.

The Science Olympics consist of two parts:

a. Pre-Planned Events: Such as quizzes and practical tasks. In fairness, the participants are told of the event the day before; this allows research and collation of materials.

b. Spontaneous Events:  Details are given out on the day of participation and range from things such as science trivia to perhaps a more complex topic as chosen by the event organisers.

How Does It Help?
Well, apart from getting young people involved in hands-on  science; it gives students the opportunity to visit and meet with fellow scientists from all over the European Union and compete in a friendly tournament. It also tests the ability of students to be innovative. A student can even win a prize for a new type of environmentally friendly fabric that could be used for fancy dress costumes! The sky is the limit when it comes to creativity. Because of the emphasis on teamwork, the Science Olympics helps the young person by helping the individual to become a team player.

Of course, there are the prizes and prestige which comes in being a winner.  Like the Olympic Games, there are Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals to be vied for and a young person attaining those goals can be very proud indeed.

The Importance of science Olympiads to the scientific community

There is a good case for the argument that science Olympiads are excellent for the scientific community. They give students an excellent grounding in all aspects of science, they may lead to an increase in the number of students becoming scientists and they teach you essential life skills helpful to any scientist in their career.  In addition to analytical skills and problem solving skills, many scientists also need skills in marketing and public speaking in order to communicate their scientific ideas to others in the scientific community or to private investors. Many medical treatments require specialist marketing that often needs to be undertaken by the scientist or doctor that developed the ideas, for example chiropractic marketing.  It can only be hoped that the number of science Olympiads increases, as they can be very advantageous to the scientific community as they give students the opportunity to practice voicing their ideas.

A.Grounding in sciences

The most obvious importance of science Olympiads to the scientific community is that they give students an excellent and wide-ranging grounding in different fields of science. This grounding is not only in the theoretical aspects of science but also in the practical application of science and scientific instruments. The reason that such a grounding is helpful is that students who participate at a pre-university age wholly understand different fields of science and can make a sound and well reasoned judgement regarding a field of science they want to pursue during university and as a career. Students will have a grounding in all the fields of science and, since at times different fields interact with each other, at such times this grounding in another field can turn out to be very helpful. Moreover, if a competing student decides to pursue a certain field, they will have an excellent grounding in the basics of that field. All of this leads to more knowledgeable and capable members of the scientific community that can lead to anything from better treatments for alzheimers to a more effective detox diet that can result in lower incidences of obesity and heart disease in the community.

B.More scientists

Science Olympiads may also be increasing the number of students who are enrolling in science classes, as is currently the case in Europe since the introduction of science Olympiads in those countries. This would be because of the competition format  of a science Olympiad and the prospect of a reward in the end is making science more exciting to young people. Hence increasing enthusiasm for both the knowledge and application of science amongst students. Since more students are enrolling into science classes it is a logical deduction that the number of people who eventually become scientists might also be increasing. Scientists are needed urgently in many fields from gene research in Sweden to researching better products for the building industry in Italy to finding new solutions for dealing with scrap metal in Spain – see Desguaces Madrid. The scientific community benefits from this as there are more scientists in the community, not only fostering competition and debate within the community but also leading to more advancements, hence fostering a better scientific community.

C. Better skills

Science Olympiads also teach participants essential skills that are very important to scientists in their careers, underlining the importance of science Olympiads to the science community. Firstly there is the competitive structure of an Olympiad, fostering a competitive spirit amongst future generations of scientists from an early age. Competition amongst these students pushes them to put in their best effort in order to win, leading to better scientists in the scientific community.

Students participating in science Olympiads usually participate in teams. Through this they learn teamwork skills in a competitive science competition, which will come in handy when they work in teams in competitive scientific atmospheres.  Conversational Hypnosis Also, people from different schools, cities or even countries come together and meet for a few days at science Olympiads. Students participating meet people from all over at a young age as well as developing contacts with other high achieving scientific minds.

Lastly, there is an emphasis on development of problem solving abilities through such competitions. This is very helpful and important for a career as a scientist due to the nature of the work where they constantly have to solve problems. Scientists who are more qualified for this type of work can only lead to a better, more capable scientific community. Other skills are also learnt by participating in science Olympiads such as improved researching abilities, putting in one’s best effort and striving for excellence.

All in all science Olympiads are a great addition to scientific activities and events at school and their further evolution and the participation of students will only lead to better, more capable and more knowledgeable minds in the scientific community. This only goes on to highlight the importance of science Olympiads to the scientific community.

Using current computer specifications, estimate the size of the station that would be needed to recharge an electric vehicle of current production. Estimate the cost of construction and years of operation to calculate the cost per kWh of electricity compared to conventional petrol cars.

The Importance of young people taking up science for the future of the planet

Science is a subject that most young people are shying away from. This is because of the complex nature of this subject. Most young people prefer other easier and less complex subjects. However, we need to radically strategize our approach to science in schools and other institutions. This is because there are many questions and aspects that need to be addressed by the next generation. It would therefore be a scientific suicide if we do not have scientists in the future. There are many great challenges facing the world such as food security, climatic change, the general health of human beings and the overall survival of the planet. Keynote speakers on the topics above use science and scientific facts in their speeches to prove their arguments and attract the attention of the scientific community and the general public. There are many ways that scientific discoveries help to make people happy and comfortable such as through solar powered heaters or even by producing effective scents that can relax the mind and body (Buy Scentsy). We require future scientists to work on these challenges. The importance of young people taking up science for the future of the planet can therefore be understood.

Scientists have asserted that in the next 20 years we will need double of what is needed in the world today. This simply means that in the 20 years to come, there will be a need to plant double what is planted today, to produce double of what is produced today and many more. This is because of the worlds increasing population. The world’s population is increasing at a very high rate which has prompted many concerns about the future. The future belongs to our young people and thus they should take responsibility for the same. The only way to show their concern for the future is by taking up science for their own good and for the good of the planet.

Specialists and doctors are very important in every community, every country, and every part of the planet. This is because doctors help in the diagnosis and treatment of ailments and disease. We need doctors in the future and the only way young people can become future doctors is by taking up science for the future of the planet. The other important aspect of science is plant science. Plant scientists have helped to tackle challenges from the old ages to date. Plant science includes; climate change, food security, and fossil or fuel replacements. These scientists have achieved much success in this area. However, we need future plant scientists who will progress or carry on the work in the future.

It is important to keep in mind that knowledge is the key to a better life. A knowledge of science is a key to a better future. Young people should therefore take this as a service to the planet and a service to themselves and to their children. This is because if they make a better future for themselves and will leave a good scientific base of knowledge for their children to work from and advance. This is a responsibility that will be of great help to the planet in the future but also to the future generations to come as well. The importance of young people taking up science for the future of the planet is therefore clear.

Thus studying science will certainly help you in getting a great career in your life.

Geology–the need of the hour for students planning a career in Earth Sciences!!

Geology is associated with the study of the Earth and how it works, the materials it is made up of, for example its minerals, rocks, mountains, rivers etc, the configuration and the structure of such materials, the forces working upon them, and the interactions above and below Earth’s surface. It is also concerned with learning the history of our planet, the history of life, and foreseeing future geological events.  It also includes the study of organisms that have inhabited our planet for past centuries and also in the present day.

Every day we use earth materials such as oil, metals, water, and rocks in the form of a bus trip, a toy made of metal, water to bathe, cook and drink, and the rocks used in the landscaping of the garden etc.   The oil we use is extracted from wells, metals come from mines, and water in our pipes is drawn from rivers, streams, underground and now we can also use sea water after desalination. Geologists are involved in each of these processes in a very important way. They conduct studies that locate places with high water tables, areas where oil and natural gas can be tapped, rocks that contain minerals and metals, plan the layout of mines that can procure them and use the best methods to remove the metals from the rocks.

You can find a geologist working in various places such as carbon trading firms, natural resource firms, environmental consulting firms, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and even universities. Being a geologist means doing field work; spending time in laboratories, offices, boardrooms, international forums and even classrooms. All geologists have to be adept at preparing reports, doing calculations and using computers. Therefore you can understand how important the work and life of a geologist is, therefore it is a lucrative field to get into as there is a huge dearth of qualified geologists in the world today. If you start focusing on this field from your school days itself that would mean falling in love with the subject. This will in turn mean your work would no longer be a profession but it will be a labor of love and a calling in life.

There is a saying that ‘Nature has catered for man’s needs but not his greed!’ To understand this saying watching movies such as Waterworld and 2012 will suffice, in painting the probable future scenarios that our children and grandchildren might have to contend with if we humans do not rein in our greed. This is precisely why geologists are the need of the hour. One can see the devastation of global warming in the frequent floods and droughts that ravage different parts of our beautiful planet. Every dark cloud has a silver lining and in today’s world it is carbon trading and methods to reduce our carbon footprint that will save our earth. That is what a student studies to become a geologist and that is why geology as a subject has risen to such prominence in recent times.

So how can geologists be valuable? Imagine being forewarned about an earthquake, tsunami, tornado, storm, flood or drought, it means saving a few million lives. Man is blessed with the most advanced brain and he has used it most beneficially to harness the forces of nature to follow his command. This translates to more forms of electricity, more water for irrigation in desert regions, more comfort and unthinkable things such as desalination of sea water to make it potable, and reclaiming parts of the sea and making it fit for human habitation.

Ideas For Promoting Science as a Career Choice for Young People

Science is a fascinating subject and it has something to offer everyone. Science encompasses so many fields that it could be considered a bit of a stretch to describe it as a subject, rather it is a mass of interconnected subjects. One of the most important ways to promote science careers is to ensure that young people understand their options in science. Students need to understand how science is interconnected so that they can appreciate it holistically, but they also need to see the divisions. Everyone has different likes and dislikes and we need to cater to that. I might love organic chemistry and hate physics, science educators need to ensure that young people understand that they don’t need to love all of science to find fulfilment in a career in science. They need to make learners realise that higher levels of education will entail greater specialisation allowing them to focus on the things they enjoy.

Young people need to be given more information about career possibilities in the field of science. At present it is very difficult for young people to pin-point what it is that scientists do. Many of them imagine scientists as people stuck in laboratories day in day out doing random experiments. This is not an accurate picture, especially when considering the diversity of career opportunities in the sciences. Students need to realise that there are possibilities for people who like working indoors or outdoors, with animals, with chemicals, with machines, with people, with numbers or with theories. There is even potential for young people with an interest in science who wish to focus on the management side of things. Perhaps these careers can be introduced to students through a series of career day type presentations by professionals, or if this is not possible through oral presentations where each student is given a different career to investigate.

The final method, and what I feel is the most important idea to promote science careers as a career choice for young people is to make the science education that they receive relevant, interesting and exciting. This is best achieved through practical, real life work. Use the theories, laws and methods learnt about in classes in real life projects. Some examples could be:

-  During a section on chemical nomenclature provide your students with product packaging and ask them to write out the chemical formulas of ingredients.

-  While discussing the topic of evolution ask your students to write an essay hypothesising about what would happen if a certain physical trait became considered attractive all of a sudden.

-  While discussing microbes ask your students to carry out a long term experiment examining the effectiveness of antiseptic cleaning products in preventing illness in their families.

-   Investigate plant genetics by cross pollinating and hybridising plants.

Another way to help young people enjoy science is to teach logic. Many people expect the youth to just pick up logic as they go along, but teaching logic overtly will help them to better reason scientifically and so will help them to feel competent.

Alternative careers in science that give great salaries such as forensic science

There are so many alternative careers in science that give great salaries, such as forensic science. This is just but one example of many careers that do not sound like science but actually do science. They require highly skilled scientists for them to be successful in today’s world that is full of technological advancements that are also very dynamic. Just like in all other parts of the world, these career opportunities have many roles in Europe. They include the following;

Fire science
Anyone can put out fires and even escape danger. But it actually needs someone much more qualified to safely fight fire and put it off as required and plan for avoiding fires in the future. There are some very complicated cases of fire such as chemical or petrol fires that require trained people who know what kind of fire is razing down a building. The materials being razed should also be known. It takes very well educated personnel to deal with an emergency in such complex situations. One has to take a course in Fire Sciences to fight very dangerous fires like a fire at a radioactive plant. The more the training in this, the higher the pay one gets.

Marine Science
A branch of earth science, this discipline will let one study marine ecosystems as a career. It is ordinary for zoologists and botanists to be involved in marine management. It would be very clever for one to take a course on marine science to improve their chances of being at the helm of good pay and a good job position, not to mention security. This course ensures one knows more zoology or botany in relation to marine ecosystems. Other scientific knowledge on the same would ensure one pockets more from the job. Newcastle University is one institution with a well recognized school of marine technology that one should consider attending.

Mortuary science
Many people dread this field, due to fear of the dead. Qualifications in this career have thus been neglected for the choice of volunteers. It would be very wise to attend a course in mortuary science. In the end, there will be a qualified mortuary attendant with a lot of knowledge on what they are actually doing. This is a very rare career choice for many. For those who choose it, they easily become the boss. Very few are educated on the science of how to deal with dead bodies. It is these few people that carry out successful postmortem tests on hire, no need to say what comes with it. Choose a well known school of medicine in Europe and pursue this course. It could be in Oxford, University of Liverpool, among so many other good institutions.

There are so many good courses of alternative sciences that lead to very unique careers. Unique careers have high levels of job security and pay. That is what everybody searches for when it comes to employment. In the end, the means is justified, no matter how strange it looked in the beginning. So many people have retired even without replacement in some careers that you should consider taking.

How a medal in a Science Olympiad can open doors

Students need to know that when they go to school, they should not only be able to have the basic skills that they went to acquire in the school, they need to be involved in the extra curricular activities so that they will be more social and know how to deal with matters in the right way. This includes Science Olympiad competitions.  This will boost their performance in class because it will allow them to do more research and be more informed of all the things that are involved with science. This will also allow the students to work as a team; this is because the competition will need them to work in groups making it fun for them hence they get used to it.

The Science Olympiad will allow each of them to bring together the skills they have learnt about scientifically, or even what they love doing most in terms of science, when they put all of this together, they will come up with a very important project that will make them win an award at the end. The idea they come up with must be able to sustain them in every way all the way to the nationals.

It allows the students to develop the will to solve problems and in this case, it will help them in the future because they will be able to handle everything they come across even if it is the worst of problems, thanks to the skills developed through participating in a Science Olympiad. The moment a student has won an award he or she will be recognized by the entrepreneurs and the science community depending on the project that one was doing. After the competition scientists might want someone who will be able to solve the problems they have or even help them in the businesses that they are doing.

You will find the scientists and the entrepreneurs contacting the team that prepared the Science Olympiad and they will ask them for the contacts of certain students who won the medals, in this case they have had the opportunity to earn a lot of money and build their careers by getting experience. They have also increased the reputation of their school and therefore made their parents proud. Others will receive scholarships from the private sector so that they will be in a position to continue studying and emerge as better people in the society.

Some students claim that engaging themselves in the Science Olympiad competition will force them to sacrifice a lot of time apart from the class work for them to win. The same students do not understand that the exercise will help them to succeed in class and it will also open doors for them in the future to become great people. It is always good to do some things that are beyond the obvious, because you will never know where such things will take you.

Why High School Science is Important for Future Science Studies at University

Science is a part of our everyday lives. Science is used in simple tasks, such as cooking or using a computer. Each and every modern technological achievement has been achieved because of the sciences.

If you plan to be successful in the digital age, it is critical that you have a firm understanding of science and its concepts. As our ability to test and organize and classify continues to increase with better technology, the pace of innovation and the impact science has on our lives will grow exponentially. Understanding the basic concepts of science will prepare you to embrace and understand new developments quickly, allowing you to take advantage of the increased human potential that is provided by these changes.

Furthermore, Science is more than just innovation and improvement. The fundamentals of science can teach us a new way to think. It sharpens our minds by giving us the ability to think logically and critically. It enhances one’s ability to see the patterns of cause and effect and to test and prove (or disprove) a hypothesis. This way of thinking can impact our lives on every level.

Any student planning on following an educational path that involves taking science at University level institutions will need to have a firm grasp of high school science principles. The ideas of scientific inquiry and research, as well as the fundamental scientific rules, laws and theories, build upon each other. Each level of knowledge is critical to the next phase of understanding. Take chemistry, for example; if you do not understand how an atom is structured and the building blocks of individual elements, then you will have no way of understanding how elements and atoms relate to each other to create molecules. In the same way each level of scientific understanding is built upon the fundamental base of knowledge that you can learn in High School level science.

The skills of critical thinking, testing and making educated guesses is a foundational principle in work and school life as well. It is imperative that high school students learn the value of scientific thinking prior to enrolling in a University. As you progress into more advanced science classes you will find the material to be increasingly difficult. It is not enough to memorize patterns or sections of information – you will need to fully grasp the concepts of the material or else you will be unable to advance to the next level of the course. Fully understanding the underlying concepts in any area of study requires a mind trained in scientific thinking and the scientific process. The only way to teach your mind to think this way is by practice and ‘exercise’ in the sciences and taking advantage of the skills you are taught in High School Science.

It is time you change the way you think about science. Science is not just biology, or physics or chemistry. It is not just a bunch of individuals standing in rooms with lab coats and test tubes. Science is the ability to identify patterns, link cause and effect and to think critically. Science is the system of thinking that allows us to grow as individuals, students and employees. If you can get a handle on the basic building blocks of science and the scientific model of thinking you will be able to achieve far more than you can imagine.

Secrets to a winning science Olympiad project

Secrets to a winning science Olympiad project can be referred to as the essentials needed if one is to make a significant contribution in the Science Olympiad. The  science  Olympiad is an  elementary, middle  and  high school based  team  competition,  which  aims at  testing  the students’ knowledge of  various science projects  and other engineering abilities. With many teams  competing  each  year, it  is  essential  for  one  to make  sure that  they  have   the  right  strategies. Such   strategies could be the Secrets to a winning science Olympiad project. A science Olympiad project is a combination of different science projects each of which gives technological methods that focus on distinctive scientific facts, principles, developments, phenomena,   and even laboratory strategies. The Science Olympiad gives  participants  the opportunity  to present  their  science and  technology projects  and  receive recognition for their  efforts. Having the right skills and effective plans is secret enough to ensure that one can    deliver an impeccable project that the supervisors will like. The Secrets to a winning science Olympiad project is an  overlay of making  sure  that each of the steps  and  stages  from  the  project design  to  execution are magnificent. Some of the tips   to coming up with the victorious project include:

Using a Display board
This contains the title, intention message, hypothesis, process results, their analysis, and the conclusion. The secret to having a successful Science Olympiad display board is to ensure neatness and lucidity. One  has  to  ensure  that  the  judges  can be  able  to   see clearly the hypothesis, experiment and  conclusions  in  a quick glance. Participants  should also avoid  sloppy  work  and be  capable of checking all  the  spelling and  grammar errors that  may  be found  on  their  board.

Steps and procedures
The Secrets to a winning science Olympiad project is   to ensure  that  the steps and  procedures  enlisted  in the  science  fair  projects  are  followed to the  letter. This  is  vital  if  one  is  to obtain  the  targeted  results  with  the experiment. It  also helps to exude  confidence  if one  is  completely  versed  with  the  project and  he or  she  is  not in  a hurry to finish. Furthermore,  by  following  the  steps and  procedure  critically, one   can  reduce  the  chances of experimental errors  more  significantly. Essential to note is that one step builds up to another. Therefore, if one misses on a single step, it will be carried over to all the other subsequent steps which can lead to errors.

Project
Choosing the right project is vital. Science Olympiad projects have accompanying themes and subjects    which the participating individuals should conform themselves to. The project should cover wholly or in part the theme and the subject of the fair. It is therefore, essential to choose the right topic which will address the purpose of the project.

Conclusion
It’s the last step in the project. One must be capable   of linking the conclusion through the hypothesis of the experiment. The  judges  must  be  able to clearly see the  impact of the  project and  how it is vital  to  the respective  field  concerned.
More so, other secrets to a winning science Olympiad project include exuding personal confidence and being sharp always.

Why Students Need Physics

Our reliance on technology represents the importance of physics in our society today. This is why students need physics. Physics research can actually be said to be the father and mother of the technologies that are currently transforming the world. Did you know that the first transistor to be developed in 1947 was as a result of the research on the physics of semiconductors? One can ignore this simple device but it is the key component in almost all of our electronic systems such as computers. As a matter of fact, this transistor is now considered as one of the most crucial and vital things to be invented in human history. Physics is responsible for making the universe a global village. I am sure that you have noticed the optical fiber networks that are creeping all over the entire planet. These optic fiber networks are as a result of the laws of optics that describe the way light behaves. There are countless technologies that have been attributed to physics. Our knowledge of Physics is still growing and today there is research being undertaken on nanostructures, photonics and quantum information. This research will lead to a vast array of technologies such as faster communication systems and computers.

We have seen the practicality of physics. Now let us look at its theories. Its theories have allowed us to procure a firmer grip of the world we live in. The theories contained in physics equip us with most of our ideas of space, energy, matter, and time. These theories allow us to get an idea of how the building blocks of all matter work. Normally, we would never be able to experience these things in our everyday life. Physics helps us to go beyond the understanding of the limits of our experience by describing the space that we exist in. It has done this through the arm of cosmology which explains to us how the world began and how it might end. You can possibly begin to doubt the theories of physics. Before you doubt, you should be aware that these theories come from a scrupulous and a methodical procedure and they are always tested against experimental substantiation or if you like, facts. Due to this fact, physics gives us a valid idea of things that go beyond our everyday experience.

When you study physics you can be able to work in the private sector, for the government, in universities and even in the military. A physics student has excellent quantitative, problem solving and analytical skills. They have the capability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of data. Not only can they do this but they can also present their analysis in a comprehendible manner. When faced with a certain dilemma, a physics student will methodically or rather systematically identify all factors that lead to the problem. From here, he or she will be able to see how these factors integrate so as to come up with a solution. These skills are efficient and necessary in any career. It is the reason why physics graduates are easily absorbed into any organization. Due to all these reasons and more, students need physics.

Why Students Need Chemistry

What a great day for science, right? Everything that we do in this world is science. How we breathe is science, how we walk is science and even how we work is science. One of the various forms of sciences is chemistry. Its importance cannot be fully emphasized. It is a very old science and was practiced about 4000 years ago by ancient Egyptians. They used various forms of chemistry in their technology such as extracting metal from ores, wine and beer fermenting, making cheese, making pigments for painting, making herbal medicine, dying, making glass and soap and so on.

When it comes to school, chemistry has a reputation for being a complex science. This reputation is not just. You should know that fireworks and explosions are based on chemistry. I do not remember anyone saying that fireworks are boring. Anyone can comprehend the basics of how things work. This is chemistry. Let us look at a few more reasons why students need chemistry.

Chemistry explains a number of things and one of them is cooking. This is an area that most people are interested in; food. Chemistry explains so much about food. It explains how food changes as you cook it, how to preserve it, how it rots and how your body utilizes it. Chemistry also explains how ingredients integrate to make food; the salt, the water, and anything that you use to make food.

Another reason as to why you need to study chemistry is that you will understand how cleaning works. Subconsciously, even if you have no idea of chemistry, it is what aids you in your decision on what dish cleaner to use. It helps you in deciding what cleaner you need for your body, your home and your laundry. Every time you make use of bleaches, ordinary soap, disinfectants and even water, you make use of chemistry.

Chemistry also helps you in understanding how medicine works. It is important to understand chemistry so as to have an idea of how drugs, vitamins, and supplements can help or harm you. When you know the side effects of certain drugs, you will be able to make better decisions when it comes to medical treatments. Chemistry comes into use in developing new medicines and medical treatments.

Chemistry goes a long way in dealing with issues of the environment. Chemistry helps in facilitating the growth of certain plants that will be beneficial to the air in the environment. When there is pollution, chemistry becomes the remedy.

All in all, everyone should study the basics of chemistry. When you are studying any of the other sciences, it is a good idea to have a keen mind in chemistry. This is because chemistry involves the interaction between types of matter and all sciences deal with matter. Chemistry is the cornerstone of science. If you want to take the career path of a doctor, a physicist, a nutritionist, a nurse, pharmacist, geologist, or a chemist, chemistry is very important. Of course there has to be an incentive to everything. Chemistry related jobs are very high paying. You can be assured of a good pension. Since chemistry is in every aspect of life, it will not be diminished. In short, you can be guaranteed of a promising and fulfilling career ahead.

Learning Biology Means Knowing About Life

What is Biology?

Science is divided into three parts:

a) Physics.
b) Chemistry.
c) Biology.

Physics and Chemistry deal with the facts of life, while Biology deals with the process of life.

In very simple terms, biology is the study of living things. It is related to studying as to how living things have evolved, how they live, adapt and eventually, die.

It is divided into two parts:

a) Study of plants.
b) Study of animals.

Importance of Biology:

Like History, Geography, math and all the other subjects we study in school we need to have a basic idea of biology. We should know what a flower is, what the various functions of our body are and how we breathe and live and do what we do.

I realise that if I would have not studied biology in school, I never would have known that I have a heart, a brain and all the other parts of my body. I would have never been able to find out why my hair is black and why some have blonde, or brunette.

I would have never been able to know what fruits and vegetables I am eating and how are they grown. I would have never known that tomatoes are fruits, but used as vegetables. I would have never known how and why do flowers blossom and their process of pollination.

Why students need Biology?

Imagine your family has planned a fun weekend trip to the zoo. When you go there, you will be lost. Why?

You will not be able to know what animals are there, how they live, their life and how they die. Imagine looking at your own body and thinking how you live, walk, think and do what you do every day and not getting an answer. You may know that you have a heart, but will never be able to find out what it looks like, what it does and how it does what it does.

In Time:

Some students like history, some like chemistry while some like math. As we climb further up to college we get to choose our subjects. The subjects we study in high school are just for introduction and basics. If you like Biology, you can make a career out of it. And the options are wide, the most lucrative and respected being a doctor, animal trainers or in the field of forensics.

Nevertheless, all of us need to know the basics. Imagine living a life, without understanding the whole process of life itself.

Scientific Terms:

Biology is the link between the physical and the social sciences. Without studying biology, one can never know how various plants and animals (including man) evolved and came into being. One can never know the impact all these creatures have on earth and their importance.

Studying Biology means knowing the essence of life, and that is why students need biology in high school.
